Who we are
Bobo Camper Hire is South Africa’s most experienced motorhome hire company as well as 4×4 camper rental specialist.
In business since 1991, we have expanded our rental fleet into the most versatile and modern motorhome and 4×4 camper fleet in Africa.
What we do
We hire out motorhomes and 4×4 campers to visitors for the self-drive market from all over the world who wish to experience southern Africa at their own pace and leisure.
From luxury fully equipped motorhomes for family travel to rugged 4×4’s for the more adventurous, we have something for all types of discoverers.

Discoverer 6

This made-for-family model in our fleet is this six berth Iveco Discoverer 6. This large motorhome is only available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. How else?

This is our most popular motorhome. This modern luxury model sleeps four adults comfortably. Luxury comes standard as does an automatic gearbox
Discoverer FunXA
From R2145 per day
Our Discoverer FunXA is built on a rugged Toyota Hilux 4×4 chassis. It has luxuries unseen in off-road campers like a kitchen and on-board toilet.

We exclusively offer automatic gearbox options for both the Discoverer 4 and 6 motorhome models.
We manufacture our own range of vehicles and customer suggestions have improved our range over the years.
Bobo Campers offers the only non-popup roof 4×4 motorhome – the Discoverer FunX budget and the new Discoverer FunXA.
Best rates in the market for models no older than 5 years – by far most are younger than 2 years. Our rates are published so you can make a quick decision.
Still no contract fees, extra driver fees as well as free drop-off.

As from October 7, 2025 we travelled with a rental camper from Bobo starting in Johannesburg and ending in Capetown November 20. We travelled in a group of 14 campers touring with SeaBridge, a German travelagency. We have driven 8300 km in this period. The camper was very well equipped and very clean. During this period we had minor issues, not technical/mechanical, with the camper. An inside cupboarddoor and a drawer that would not open. An employee from Bobo campers, called Fernel, travelled with us to solve issues. The minor issues mentioned above but also technical issues and tire changes and arranging the tire repair from others. Fernel has proved to be very useful during the travel. He is kind, helpful and polite to all group members. He never forgets to do what he promised. We truly hope and trust his manager will appreciate him accordingly. Also we hope he gets his opportunity to grow and experience more in his function for Bobo’s commercial success and his private situation. We enjoyed our campertravel and wish all of you the best! We drove 8300 km in this period. The camper was very well equiped and we had no technical problems. From Bobo campers Atlantis a mechanical employee called Fernel travelled with us to change tires and solve mechanical issues. We really want to share with you that Fernel is very kind, very helpful and always polite to everyone of our group. We truly hope and trust that his manager at Atlantis will appreciate him accordingly and allow him the best opportunities whilst working for Bobo. Don’t loose this employee!!
