Kashete Plains Expedition
Categories: Riverside
Location: Blyde River, Limpopo, South Africa
Description:
Kashete Plains Expedition (KPE), an agro-tourism venture nestled along the picturesque Okavango River, near Shakawe, KPE offers an eco-friendly riverfront retreat, ideal for travellers exploring the Okavango Delta. Accessible to all vehicle types—including non-4WD cars—our off-grid site is powered by a 10kW solar station and secured with solar and electric fencing. Strategically located near the Mohembo border (10 km via the bridge) with Namibia's Zambezi region, KPE is a perfect stopover or alternative gateway to the Delta, offering a quieter, more adventurous route for those coming from Kasane or heading to Maun.
With direct access to a floodplain and a year-round water channel, the area teems with birdlife, wild fruits, and traditional fishing spots. Named after the local area, Kashete—meaning "basket" or "session" in Setswana—the camp honours both cultural heritage and environmental conservation.
